The Miami Marlins drop game two of a four game series 3-1, the team had its chances to score, but just could not come through in the clutch.
Marlins lose another well pitched game by Dan Haren who threw six solid innings along with three strikeouts, albeit he did give up three earned runs all on solo home runs to, Brett Wallace and including back to back homers in the fifth inning to Yonder Alonso and Matt Kemp.
Padres starting pitcher Andrew Cashner just found a way to stifle the Marlin bats tossing seven strong innings giving up just one earned run. A very strong bullpen for the Padres took over sending Joaquin Benoit into the eighth followed by closer Craig Kimbrel who came in and secured the final three outs.
The Marlins continue to be a tease they show signs of life and then flatline, but give the team credit in the end they made you hold your breath with two on two out and Ichiro Suzuki up to bat and he grounds out to second, Marlins will have a chance to avenge this loss tomorrow night when they send pitcher David Phelps to the mound in game three of the series.
The bright spot on offense by the Miami Marlins was first baseman Justin Bour who went two for four with an RBI. The Marlins are happy to report Giancarlo Stanton has begun dry hitting and Dee Gordon is scheduled to take batting practice this weekend at teams training facility in Jupiter, Fl.
